We are excited to announce a collab with one of our favorite local breweries, Channel Marker, to create a New England style IPA brewed exclusively for Webber Restaurant Group restaurants. After months of recipe testing, tasting, and refining with a team of WRG beer lovers, the launch of Captain Max is upon us and you can grab a pint at Gibbet Hill Grill, Scarlet Oak Tavern, The Bancroft, and The Double Bull Taphouse.
Captain Max is a New England style, hazy IPA that features Citra, Mosaic, and Cashmere hops. These hops drive forward flavors and aromas of freshly peeled oranges, clementines, and a subtle hint of passionfruit.
Channel Marker is a small batch brewery located on Rantoul Street in Beverly that specializes in IPAs and Sours. They were voted one of The Top 10 New Breweries in 2020 by USA Today, and are well known for having some of the best IPAs around. Channel Marker has very limited distribution, but our taphouse in Peabody, MA, The Double Bull, has been carrying their limited release beers regularly since opening.
Named by a staff member, the name Captain Max is a nod to Channel Marker’s nautical themes, as well as a nod to Maximillion, a prize-winning bull said to be the ancestor of the black angus cattle grazing the pasture at Gibbet Hill, the location of our company’s flagship restaurant, Gibbet Hill Grill.
